I know I'm missing in action for long stretches, but I do read the posts fairly often. Just wanted to let everyone know I'm around still.
Our little girl, Tuffy, has laid two eggs! Now I'm REALLY glad we didn't put her in the same cage with the two guys!!
Peppy 3 had a bout with an intestinal bacteria, but seems to be fine now. The avian vet gave him an antibiotic which fixed him up. Of course we ended up having to give him some plain yogurt to get his tummy back in order, but he's back to his playful self again.
Chippie just sings and plays all day! He's a real delight. He manages to get the other two going, then we have a veritable choir! I love it!!
Hope everyone is doing well and all your feathered buddies too.

Hi KR, glad to hear from you, I know we've all been busy but try to check in often too.
Tuffy laid 2 eggs? This was about the time Sky did in Nov. Was it last yr. ? Time is ging by too fast. Just changed toys in the cages hopeing that will distract them with new suroundings. We're suppose to leave Sat. for the Cape, so I won't be around for a week. My kids and grandaughters will take care of our 4-some. They get off the bus here, and Mom is getting out of work early to be here for them. I can't believe Natalie will be 14 in Feb. and graduate from 8th grade. She made an apple cake all by herself and can make mac. & cheese or heat up something in the mic. Valerie turn 11 in Aug. I can't believe my babies are growing up. At least they feel like their mine.
Glad to hear that Peppy is feeling better. Did you have to separate him from Chippie for awhile? Plain yogurt does wonders even for us.
Chippie sounds like a character. LOL There always has to be one in the bunch that starts the choir going. Love it too.
Seems like everytime I say 'Gee, not too many feathers lately' and guess what? I cleaned out the vac. today and thought there was a bird in there, went back and counted 1 2 3 4 all there. Feathers all over this past week! Big ones-little ones-all colors!! Had egg-carrot-broccoli today. I'm going to toast up some whole wheat oat-nut bread in the oven for them, and make bread crumbs as a treat while we're gone. They love fresh, but just incase, I don't want to leave anything left to spoil. Cut up a bag of millet in 2 in. pieces so they can have 2 in each cage everyday because they won't have too much out time to be free, and new chew toys etc. Girls can hang the romaine, wet and drippy that they love to eat & claw at, can't get it there fast enought, they a grab it out of your hand before you can hang it. Made some vinager water to use with paper towels to clean grates & trays. Am I sounding like I'm gonna miss my babies? Wish I could take them with me, sigh.
Nice to here from you, keep in touch. Alice

Hi KR I know what you mean, about being so busy! I'm not posting as often either, and do check in often. Glad to hear your birdies are ok, and what a relief about Tuffy being in a cage of her own.

Well, since the first post, Tuffy has laid 8 more eggs!! I THINK she's done finally. I sure hope so. She's so thin - we have to plump her back up again. She is perky and playful and as noisy as ever, just worn to a nub.
The 'keet chorus is so enjoyable! I just loved sitting and listening to them. Peppy will sometimes start up a screeching session - boy does that get LOUD! But they're alot of fun.
I know what you mean about feathers! Jody tries to save all the bigger ones and I'll bet he's got enough saved to make three more birds! I may have to do some art work with them.

KR, does that make a total of 10 ? Poor Tuffy. Does she sit on all of them ? Are they on the bottom of the cage ? Has she lost interest in them yet ? Maybe some warm oatmeal with baby food veg. or fruit will put some weight on and some millet on top. Sky 2 didn't seem to loose any weight, but she was always in a food dish when she wasn't sitting, and VERY HYPER !!! She did loose her tail feathers from rubbing on the bars in HER corner. I save a lot of the bigger feathers too. LOL I was thinking of making another bird by sticking them in a foam ball and using a smaller one for the head. Maybe those craft eyes and a nut shell for the beak and find some small branches for feet. OK I gave out all my secrets and I bet Jody will beat me to making something. I just can't find the time to do what I have to do. We also love it when they all try to out beat each other getting louder and louder. Alice Keep in touch.

I too love the chattering my 'keets make. Although since I've moved them into another room, behind closed door, I don't hear or see them as much as I want.
