Tonight I put Joee back in the pet taxi and placed close to the heater. She doesn't look good, and I noticed she was shivering. I don't know what's going on, she hasn't looked good since last Dec. Her chest area appears enlarged, and walks like she's leaning forward, not erect. I don't know if she's had anymore seizures.

Sheila, I'm sorry to hear this. Is she eating, putting out usual number of droppings? Sivin

She eats and her droppings look normal; actually better than it's been for a while. She seems to shiver, away from the heater, so I'm keeping her close to it. She walks like a duckling, I'm sure due to the seizures. When they start having seizures, is there something that can be done for them? She doesn't fly, unless she gets away from me, but not very high or far. She will only climb with her beak, in the cage. I hate to leave her in the pet taxi by herself. I'm thinking maybe I should have her put to sleep, so if she's hurting or suffering, she won't be anymore. Tough decision, since she eats and droppings look ok...
I've decided to put Joee to sleep tomorrow morning; if she makes it through the night... I'm so upset with myself, for not doing this sooner, and feel so sad for her...

Sheila,
I'm so sorry it's come to this. I wonder whether she has a tumor? I don't know enough about seizures to answer your question one way or the other. You've done so much for this bird. Did you ask the vet about the waddling?

No I haven't. She's been walking this way for a while now, and I just figured it's from her illness. If she has a tumor, it possibly could be the reason for her to walk the way she does. I don't understand the shivering she's doing now. I had hoped when I put her back in the cage w/the others she would become more lively, and she didn't. So I feel like she's seriously ill, and I've been selfish about keeping her alive. I just hope she's not suffering. I checked on her about 30min ago, and she's still with us, but doesn't look good.
Thanks everyone for your kind words, during this time.

I'm so sorry Joee didn't recover. You've been a good friend to Joee, and done your best. You know there's no reason to blame yourself, if you'd euthanized him earlier, you would probably blame yourself for that also. There's not always an exact right and wrong, and we all do as well as we can.
