I'm sorry to hear about your bird. Hopefully you'll be able to find a vet to take her to. G'luck! Keep us posted, on what you find out.

It's hard to tell what the blister did to your birds beak. It could have become infected or something. I know Birdvet is very good in helping us out with minor problems on line, but this sounds like something an avian vet visit is needed to actualy see your bird. Hope you find one soon and keep us posted. Good luck. Alice

I also agree that it would probably be difficult to diagnose online. I think there could be many causes such as infection, metabolic problems, or diet. I just found a link about a particularly bad virus that causes Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease; I hope this isn't the problem. The link is below. Are there feather abnormalities also? Any luck finding a vet? I just found a listing of avian vets in the UK that might help. It is the second link below (and I'll edit it into the first list also). Psittacine Beak and Feather Disease: www.exoticpetvet.net/index.htmlUK avian vets: www.parrotpassionsuk.com/Advice/Uk_Avian_Vets.htm

You can get a small pet taxi and take her in it. You can also get the clear plastic containers, that you can put hamsters, reptiles, etc. in them. Something small, but big and comfortable for her to be in. It's only going to be for a short time. Do you know how far of a distance you'll be going? If it's hours, you'll need to put apples and/or water with her, and I would put some millet in there too. This is so she'll have something to eat, and the apples will help hydrate her, as the water will too.

It might be a good idea to give the box a decontaminating wash in case there are any contagious germs on it from other birds. Good luck. I hope she heals well. 10 years is a long time to be housemates.

To Alice from another Alice. How did your visit go at the vet go today? You can also use a cat carrier lined with a towel on the bottom with no perch, and millet & some fruit. You can offer water when you get there. They are cheap to have your own incase you need to use it again, or like I do, have a small cage that they see daily and explore so it won't be a strange thing to go into. Just have to put a light towel or something over it so he doesn't see strange lights etc. and put the raido on softly to drown out outside noise, and talk to him, like you would at home. Keep us posted, we all love our feathers friends here. Alice
