OK, got your attention. ;D Have 4 budgie girls for yrs. now, and adopted 2 new ones 3 mo. ago. 1 male & 1 female, about 1 yr. Problem- They are messy!! Ours poop in the cage except when let out to play etc. These 2 new ones hang on the cage at night like ours do, but poop about a ft. away and fling seed shells and food all over. I know a seed gard of some kind will solve the food problem, but not the POOP problem. A ft. out?? All day too! Normal poops. Are some just more messy than others? Alice

Hi Alice,
I know that you know your birds, but is it possible this is vomiting? No? Then beats me how to stop it! Are you finding little solid droppings a foot away from the cage?

No, not vomit, it's normal poop! Well formed, white in the middle & dark circled around & does harden when dry up. They stick their tails out the bars and just like fart ( is this word allowed?) them out. They are very active & chatter & love their new toys & it was funny when they first went on the 2 new sandy perch swings, almost fell off, but now they swing a way leaning back & forth.
They are just the most messy birds. I could put up with the normal feathers floating around to vac. but the poop?? & seed shells etc. all over! Geezz! Alice

Beats me how to solve that.. maybe put newspaper around the bottom of the cage?? or train them to poop inside the cage or somethin!

Don't know how to keep them from pooping outwards from the cage... You might have to pin up a disposable sheet, plastic, or paper on the walls or wherever the poop is hitting.
