First I have to laugh about leaving 1,000 lb. of seed in the van. How many times have we all left the heavy stuff there for a week ;D Now my question- with buying 50 lb. or more when on sale of wild bird seed we put it in containers on the enclosed back porch. How do you really put Sevin Dust in the containers so you don't get those moth things. I had them in my pantry yrs. ago, threw every dry box of dry food out- flour, pasta, everything but can goods. They had to start with something I bought from the store! Washed the whole pantry with vinegar. I'd like to prevent a problem with them again. with all the bird seed. It won't harm the birds? or if you use it on a pet that has fleas and share the house too? Alice

Well I was tired from an all day at the bird show then loading my 20 bags of feed then helping Tony load his 30 bags. I just didn't have what it took to do all that unloading. As for that garden dust, no it will not hurt the birds or your other pets. To use it in your feed storage containers put the dust in old socks and drop one in at different levels in the container. I use this stuff sprinkled on the floors inside my flight pens and around the building to combat ants. Canary breeders have use it in bird's nests. I have had friends with chickens put the dust in a paper bag and put the chickens in there (with their heads sticking out) and shake them up. Before the better flea treatments we use to powder the cats and dog with this dust too. Kerry

Thanks Kerry for your ans. We old people (LOL) put it in 10lb. empty plastic containers, so it's easier to carry out to the bird feeders. So, I guess a little in a baby sock will work. And safe around pets, of course carefully, and won't hurt the birds. Again, Thanks. Alice
