Dear Vet:
I have an 8mo old parakeet. Yesterday when I came home he was all fluffed up. He is eating and pooping at this point. He is less active than usual. I have given him some vitamins in his water. He is singing a little. I have put him in a warmer room where he can hear everyone one, but away from my sun conure because I don't know what is wrong. He is also loosing alot of feathers. Is there anything I can give him in his food and water to help him along. I am also covering his cage with a towel at night.

Joanne,
You really need to get him to an avian vet. If he has a virus, bacteria or fungal infection vitamins in the water are not going to cure it. Non of those can be diagnosed through this medium. Keeping him under a warm light is key until you get to the vet and while you treat his illness.
The longer you wait the less likely he is to recover. Birds hide their illness because to show them means expulsion from the flock. Sick birds draw predators. So you bird as been sick for a while. Acting fast to seek medical attention is truly the key to recovery.
