I haven't tried this, but it sounds good for Thanksgiving, low in fat & calories, from the 'Big Y gro. store free booklet' for Sept. When I use fresh cranberries, I always cut them in half and use a colander to remove seeds. I wiil post my cranberry salad gelatin with apples-celery-walnuts that I have to make every yr. that was a recipe from 'Home-ec' in high school. Apple Cramberry Bake 3 cups granny-smith apples-peeled & sliced 2 cups fresh cranberries 1/3 cup sugar 1 tsp. vanilla extract 1/3 whole wheat flour 1 cup old-fashioned oats 1/3 cup brown sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1/4 cup canola oil cooking spray Combine apples, cranberries, sugar & vanilla- mix well Spoon into 8x8 baking dish coated with cooking spray Combine flour-oats-brown sugar-cinnimon & oil-stir with fork. Sprinkle this over apple mix. Bake at 350 for 40 min. or untill bubbly. Maybe a once a yr. treat for the birds too, since they entertain us while we eat the BIG BIRD Alice

I tried this yesterday -sort of. I had a big batch of cheap peaches from the store that weren't very sweet, and were going to go bad before being eaten, so I substituted them in there for the fruit. I also added lemon (the cranberries would be tart), tapioca, and brandy, and put about 1/2 egg white in the topping (don't know why). It came out good. Thanks. (It looks healthy, too, with whole grain and good fats.)

Sheila, I didn't post the cranberry salad gelatin yet, have to get that old cookbook out. LOL
Michael, I also subsitute things in a recipe to what I rather like, or like you did, not wanting to waste the peaches. I'm glad it came out good. I guess you can use other fruits too. I won't forget the brandy. ;D Alice
How about pears, they'll be in season too with apples?

Yes, that sounds good. Maybe with a little more spices in them, since they're milder than peaches or cranberries.
