Our baby girl Sky 2 passed yesterday morning. She was only 4 & 1/2 yr old. Henry opened their cages as usally and making coffee and went to talk to them. Sky fell off the perch, so he had her do step-up and took her into the kitchen. She grabbed on hard and let him pet her in his hands. Than she just just pecked his finger [like a kiss good-bye, not a bite] and just layed her head to the side and died. I wish I was up, but it all happened in 15 min. and he didn't know this would happen. I'm still crying because she was the most entertaning one with toys and loved company to show off what she can do, very active. Pic. of our ' Barbie Doll ' Alice Click to enlarge

Sorry to hear of your loss.
I lost a 2007 breeder hen this morning. She looks healthy, was in good weight, clear cere, mouth and vent. I have preped (sp?) her to send off for necropsy before I ran out the door for work this morning. I lost a few birds over the breeding season like this so it is time to find out what is up!

Thanks Sivin & Kerry. Shiela already e-mailed me. I know she was just a cheap bird, but she was loved just as much as our Irish Setter & Persion Cat who had to be put down. Old age and cancer. Kerry, I,m sorry to hear about your breeder hen. Sky seemed find too, no signs of anything wrong. If I felt something was very wrong I would have a necropsy. Let us know the results. I will watch her cage mates too. Alice

Kathy, I miss postings too. We just miss her soo much, and the others are still kind of looking for her. We just try to avoid her name with the 'Good Morning- naming all of them' We cleaned all cages-dishies-etc. with vinagar and air dried. They can be out for a few Hrs. to fly while we do this. Also vac. good, and got the 'steam machine' out to do a good cleaning. Washed curtains,walls-etc. I'm pooped, not like I don't clean all the time, but I've been 'Mrs. Clean!' Glad to here from you, and how are you and your family doing? Alice

Wow! You really worked hard didn't you? We are all well...and waiting for spring to finally get here for real. We have a few nice days and then poof! it snows again. Oh well soon enough we will all be complaining that it's too hot.
