Are you treating your bird for a certain malady? Our companion birds are often the victims of the same diseases that plague us! Is your bird battling diabetes, a liver problem or obesity? How is the condition being managed?

Our female cockatiel has fatty liver disease and has been on a prescribed diet for a year. She is nine years old. In many cases this is the result of a faulty diet, however her diet was always good and her problem could be genetic. She is doing pretty well and the only outward sign is a copious amount of water in her droppings.
We have a budgie who is 9-1/2 years old and was just diagnosed with a large tumor visible as a bulge in the vent area. The vet suspects it is in her ovary and does not feel she would be a good candidate for surgery even at the major animal medical school in this area. She is still acting well, eating properly and doing the normal things. The vet has prescribed a homeopathic medication, which might extend the bird's life, or might not. It won't hurt her in any case.
