Had a good time at the show below. I took 4 birds, turns out 3 really wanted to show the 4th and one of my best birds REFUSED to get up off the floor of the cage. Julie said he would have been somewhere in the top 5, but it was hard to tell a lot about him just viewing his back. There was a 2nd yellow who was in the same frame of mind and both birds got sent back.
My baby dark green opaline hen took 4th and I another bird took 7th, best opposite sex AND best young opposite sex.
The food was great, I made 3 pots of chili and they ate 2 of them. The 3rd will be frozen and we will have it for the Christmas Party. I kept that back in the fridge I didn't think they would get to that, but I wasn't sure. I had 4 hot dogs left over from 5 packages. There was a casserole, healthy salads, fresh fruit, 4 bags of chips and only 1 plate of sweets.
Poor Jim was suffering from food poisoning he got the night before at Burger King. We felt bad that no one had a blanket in the car to make a pallet for him to lay down on and be a bit more comfortable. I kicked the AC down to 67* in the hall way that he was trying to take a nap in. The poor guy was soooo hot. Everyone was keeping a good eye on him through the day. We even worked out a way if needed to get him, his car and his birds back to Roy's house until he was well enough to travel home. He lives in San Angelo which is NOT a short drive.
He's color was a LOT better by the end of the day and he said he was strong enough to drive home. We made him promise to pull over and rest as many times as it took if he got fatigued. Got an e-mail that he made it home and did pull over twice to rest.
One more thing to try and remember to pack when going to a show. A blanket for an emergency like this one.
