1st. egg hatched 11-15-09. 2nd. 11-17. 3rd. 18th. died-removed with tweezers. 4th- 11-20, all doing find. Last 2 never hatched, but happy with the 3 healthy, happy, playfull ones we have! Dad was eager-hyper to feed Mom, going to seed-pellets-vegs.-mineralblock-cottlebone-romaine-carrot-water-etc. She made a peep and he jumped to her comand to feed them! Than at about 3 weeks, he didn't let her come out to eat herself as she wanted to as much!!! Soo, I put her back in her own cage with Teal, and he is doing great feeding them and they are eating on their own now too. These babies are quick to learn how to fly-perch-swing. They're all mostly green like Mom- love them!!! They look like triplets- LOL- but I can tell them apart- Holly- Faith- Star Click to enlarge

Well you can tell right off the bat the hens. Opaline is a sex linked mutation so all the "bald" yellow heads in the nest box are hens. Pretty chicks.

'Thanks Kerry' for the info. I thought 1 & 2 were hens by the white rings around their nostrils, but not sure about #3. and the dark beak is fading.

Thanks Helaine, It was an experience I don't regret, being the first time. I think the price of budgies should be more after buying formula food [in case]-nest box-cleaning the nest box daily-providing fresh veg. daily-etc.-etc.-etc. Oldest will be 10 weeks this Sun.
Keep in touch, maybe more members will post too if we keep it going with whats going on with our birds.
