Per the Continental Airlines Live Animal Desk 800-575-3335:
$75 flat shipping rate for birds within the continental United States
Shipping limits are as follows:
- Maximum: 50# and 6 containers
- Containers may be banded together, up to 3 high and 2 wide - must have a stable base and 1" spacers ensuring ventilation holes are not blocked

I did speak with the Continental Pet Safe people today about Temperature and Connection times.
All Temperatures are okay for shipping birds unless they are really extreme.
They have air-conditioned carriers at their hubs and give special handling elsewhere.
Birds and animals are always first on and first off and transported immediately.
At Continental, 45 Minute connection times between flights are okay and no extra charge.
The new Delta rules now require you to pay more than double if you want less than 2 hour connection times.
At Continental your crates need to be marked as Live Birds.
At Delta they now require you to plaster the USDA LIVE ANIMAL CARE CHECK LIST on your crates.
At Continental they realize that birds can spend the night in a shipping crate because they have all the food and moisture they need and would only be sleeping anyway.
The new Delta rules have eliminated the regulation they had which allowed bird shipments to spend night time hours at their hubs because they now insist that birds be handled under the same rules as "Live Warm Blooded Animals"
It seems that Continental is the only airline that recognizes that a bird is not a dog or a cat
We've all been through some hard economic times.
Continental is giving us a helping hand with their new rates, great service and fast connections.
Delta is wanting us to pay double for the same service we had before their merger with Northwest and is kicking us when we're down.
Please remember who held out a helping hand and who kicked us when we were down. Say thanks with you business dollars
