I have some heart breaking news. Last night when I went home I found my Suzie had died. It looked like she had a stroke, she was on her back. She was only 10 years old, still very young since Moustaches live to be about 25 to 30. She was the only runt I ever produced and I wonder if that had anything to do with it.
Poor Goofy is very vocal and acting very insecure. I held him loosely covered in a towel for 2 hrs last night. I told him 10 years ago for him to pick out a chick HE wanted to keep from a clutch I was hand feeding 10 years ago. This is when I though I was going to use him as a breeding bird. I should have realized since he did not consider himself a bird that this would never happen. The runt was the only chick he stayed close to when he "helped" me at feeding times.

Oh Kerry, this is so sad... My heart goes out to you, Goofy, and Suzie. May Suzie fly high in the rainbow clouds...

Ohh Kerry, I am soo sorry to hear about Suzie. Poor Goofy, he will miss her I'm sure. And you, I know how heatbroken you must be. She was a beautifull bird. I'm glad you found that picture of her that you were looking for. Alice

Thanks all for the comforting words, they do help. I find it interesting that he no longer jumps on her cage, staying on his own when I let him out in the evening time. He is acting a bit insecure and needing more hugs and kisses which I give each time I pass his cage or in-between commercials. I usually didn’t take them out in the morning time, but am doing so now since Goofy really seems to want it for a morning hug.
Without Suzie he is now allowed to talk. It is nice to hear him say his name and add all those extra Goofy, Goofy, Goofy Goofball.
I really hate it at times when I get premonitions. It was only a few weeks ago out of the blue I started to wonder what it would be like not to have Suzie around any more. I thought it was a rather strange thought since Suzie was younger than Goofy.
I have had some bird friends calling to check on me. It’s so nice to have people who “get it” when we loose a pet bird.
