Good grief, it's only 6 weeks to the Grand National (in AZ)! This weekend I have to pull all the birds and Ivermecton them. Then take a hard look at ALL the birds I have produced picking the best to go to the Grand and a 2nd sting to go the Ft. Worth Bird Show at the end of this month. I have ordered some Ronidazole that should be in by next week so I can make sure everyone is ready for breeding season which starts for me in mid October. I am hearing really good reports that Ronidazole is much easier to use, dissolves so much better than Flagyl and just works better all around. This is even coming from an exhibitor in LA that is also a DVM. I'm looking forward to trying this product.

Sounds like you have a lot of work to do, but I know that you just love your birds, and have a lot of fun in the end. Good Luck at the shows.
OK, not being a breeder, What is Ronidazole & Flagyl? Alice

Thanks for your answer. Just having ours budgies from 03 & 04 we haven't had to use any meds for them. We've had cats, dogs, and raised rabbits for yrs. My grandaughter has a gecko for a yr. now and enjoys her. They also have 2 mini-rex rabbits [he's fixed] and get along great together. Alice

You shouldn't be needing these things if you are not adding birds regularly to your flock or taking them on the road to be exposed to other birds. Birds brought to shows are to be healthy, but one never knows what is brewing at someone else's aviary. No one knowingly brings a sick bird to show. Then you always have where birds hid an illness, the stress of a show will always make it show faster.
I like many others take a proactive approach to my bird program. Everyone is medicated so everyone is on an even start when breeding season come about.

Kerry, Now I can understand why you would make sure your birds are healthy before the shows & after. Good luck at the shows, Safe trips with them, have a fun time, and a sucessful breeding season. Alice
