Cockatiels can produce 8 at a time, more and less are possible! When all is said and done take the eggs out (after mama bird is finished, but you know that!0 and save them to make oh so cute decorations for next Easter!

Sheila, it seems like she's laying one every other day. When do you find them? morning or night? Is she sitting on them? rolling them etc.? where are they in the cage now if the first one fell through the grate? How is Rose and Tex getting along? Found 3 eggs in Teal & Sunny's cage. Don't know who laid 1 or 2, but both don't give a hoot about them. I'm going to remove them. It's like 'I don't want them, you can have them!' Geee! not like Sky who was so protective of hers. She covered them with her wings for weeks untill she knew they wouldn't hatch. I thought she was going to lay again by the large poops, but nothing yet. I keep checking her upside down and checking her vent and tummy area. She is eating OK and very active, and poops don't seem as large any more.
Sivin, thats a cute idea! 'Easter decorations' Years ago, we use to color goose and quail eggs that we got from a farm. They didn't taste very good, but the kids got a kick out of finding them.
Hi Kathy, haven't hear from you to much lately. How are the grandkids, DIL, And your son?

She's laying them late in the eve, or early morning. I usually find them when I get up in the mornings.
She's laid six now #7 should be soon.
She's laying on them on the bottom grate, she's moving them around and they fall below to the tray. I did find one on the grate, but put it below. She's not able to lay on them, due to them being below, on the tray.

My mean Mama laid 7 about a 2 months ago...she sat on them for 3 weeks. Only got off of them to eat and poop. Then one morning when I went to feed her she had broken every one of them. I guess she just knew nothing was gonna happen.
Alice, The grandkids are all well. Noisy and rambunctious like all little ones. SIL is still in Iraq. He got to come home at the end of February for his 2 week r&r and then went right back over there. My daughter gets to talk to him on line every day or two.

Kathy, 'Kids will be kids' Enjoy them, they grow up too fast. My oldest, Natalie is 14 and going to High School next year. So far, no problems, an honor student etc. Valerie is 11 and in middle school. She's also doing well, and is very artistic. Prayers are sent to your SIL and to all of you. Alice

'7 eggs!' I hope she stops at ' 8 ' How is she reacting to the eggs. Does she want to get to them or does she not care about them. I don't know anything about tiels, only that they can lay often. How is she other wise? Eating-active-etc. ?

She stopped at 7. I finally removed them this eve, for they were underneath the grate, on the bottom tray. She wasn't able to sit on them, while she was in the cage and didn't when she was out. Her poop is still loose and lots of it. I've been sick for three weeks, and haven't really been paying alot of attention to her. She is active and eats...

Well it's taken Rose 2 weeks to lay her 8th egg!!! Now is she finished? Or is she starting over?!?!? I hope she's not going to be a chronic egg layer! Has anyone else had a female 'tiel wait 2 weeks to lay her eggs? I'm baffled ...

Hi Sheila,
Yep, sorry, from my experience this is the start of a new clutch. You really don't want this to go on. I suggest creating a little stress in her life if you haven't already (I haven't gone through the whole thread), i.e. rearrange her cage, move the cage, see what happens. Good luck!

Well egg #2 was laid sometime today. It wasn't there when I left for work @ 5:30am... I'm going to get one of the spare cages and put her in it. The cage is small and I hate to put her in it. I'll try keeping her in a dark closet for most of the day/night and see if this will help.
Thanks Sivin.

Sheila, 'aww poor Rose going throuh all this' and you too. I think I remember Kerry saying not to give too much egg or soft food either. I don't know much about tiels, but Sivin seems to know more having had tiels herself. Alice
